Blizzard's Minor Hockey Camp

You can now register your child for the Blizzard's Minor Hockey Camp. They have three age categories: Group One is for kids born in 2015-2016, Group Two is for children born in 2011-2014, and Group Three is open to all females.
Each group will get eight on-ice sessions, a jersey and the chance to learn from the Blizzard coaching staff and players. They ask that your child come thirty minutes before their scheduled ice time.

Swim Lessons at the Winton Pool

Jump in the pool with the Kelsey Rec, registration opens today for swimming lessons at the Winton Pool. They offer many classes for kids and teens throughout summer break. The price to take part varies starting with their Pre. 1-Level 2 classes which cost $67, for Levels 3-6 it costs $77 and for their Rookie and Ranger programs it's priced at $90. Don't forget if you are thinking about becoming a lifeguard registration is open for their Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and National Lifeguarding Courses. Much like swimming lessons, you can sign up at the Wellness Centre.

Slo-Pitch Week 6

Week 6 of The Pas Slo-Pitch League begins tonight with a jam-packed Tuesday schedule.
At Arena 1 The Fireballs take on team T at 6:30, after that game the Deadly Diamonds will play the Alouette Base Invaders at 8:00. There are also two games happening back to back at the Centennial field, team 309/East LA will first challenge the Hardwoods at 6:30, then at 8:00 they face the Mall Rats. The last game on the schedule will feature a matchup between the Hell Cats and team BD, that game starts at 6:30 and takes place at the Kinsmen Field.
There will be four games happening on Thursday. Team T and the Deadly Diamonds play their second game of the week against each other at the Arena 1 baseball diamond, that game starts at 8:00. The Young Guns & Then Some will go head to head against the Jacs as both teams will make their week six debuts, that contest goes down at 8:00 at the Centennial field. Before that at 6:30 the Mall Rats and team BD will clash as they wrap up their week. The last game on Thursday goes down at the Kinsmen field, the Yankdeez will compete against the Alouette Base Invaders at 6:30.
Much like Thursday, four games are happening on Friday to wrap up week 6. The Arena 1 baseball diamond will play host to two games. At 6:30 the Hellcats will go toe to toe with the Fireballz, and right after the Deadly Diamonds will face team T. At the Centennial field team Young Guns & Then Some go up against the Yankdeez at 6:30. Also at 6:30, but at the Kinsmen field, the Hardwoods entertain the Jacs. 

New Blizzard Owner

It was announced last week on June 21st that the MJHL had approved the Blizzard Junior A Hockey Club sale to Rob & Bonnie White.
Rob White was President of the Board this past season and played a massive role in the team's success on and off the ice.
The hockey club underwent major changes before the 2023/2024 season as they switched arenas, brought in new staff members and hired a new coaching staff.
The Blizzard finished the regular season with a 39-15-1-3 record and made it all the way to game seven in the second round of the MJHL playoffs.

At the Centennial field team, Jacs will clash with the  Alouette Base Invaders; that game starts at 6:30. Lastly, at the Kinsmen  Field team, 309/East LA will play two back-to-back games; at 6:30, they'll tussle with the Young Guns & Then Some and then at 8:00 they'll challenge the Yankees.

The last game on the schedule will take place at the Kinsmen field, where the Mall Rats play their first game of the week against the Deadly Diamonds. 
There are only three games on Friday, and two of them are at Arena 1. The Mall Rats will play the Fireballz at 6:30, right after Team Young Guns & Then Some cap off their week by taking on Team BD. Lastly, the Alouette Base Invaders will compete with Team T at 6:30 p.m.; the game will take place at the Centennial field.

Slo-pitch Weekly Update

It's week four already, and The Pas Slo-Pitch League will continue with their 2024 season.

Tonight is a busy evening for team 309/ East LA as they play two back-to-back games at the Arena 1 baseball diamond. At 6:30 pm, they'll play the Jacs, and then at 8:00 pm, they take on the Alouette Base Invaders. At the Centennial field, the Hardwoods will play team T at 8:00 pm; lastly, at the Kinsmen field, the Yankdeez will play the Fireballs at 6:30 pm.

Moving on to Thursday, team Young Guns & Then Some play two games at Arena 1; at 6:30 pm, they play the FireBallz, and then at 8:00, they'll compete with the Deadly Diamonds. At the Centennial field, Team T will play their second game of the week as they take on the Mall Rats at 6:30 pm. Right after that, the Alouette Base Invaders will challenge the Hell Cats. The last game for Thursday will take place at the Kinsmen Field, where the Jacs are playing team Balls Deep.

There are only three games on Friday, and two of those games will take place at Arena 1. At 6:30, the Deadly Diamonds will play against the Hardwoods, and then at 8:00, it will be a game of cat and mouse as the Mall Rats contend against the Hell Cats. The Kinsmen Field will host Balls Deep and the Yankdeez; that game starts at 6:30.

Blizzard Draft Picks

After a successful 2023-2024 MJHL campaign the Blizzard have shifted their focus to the 2024 Draft. Before any draft picks were made each team in the MJ are allowed to list and keep two players born in 2008 from the respective home zones. The Blizzard decided to pick only one player and that was forward Chantyn Michell-Thompson.

The OCN-born lefty is coming off a stellar season with the Norman Northstars U18 AAA team where he played 48 games and tallied 47 total points. He also played with the OCN Storm and was a part of Team Manitoba for the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship.

The draft occurred on June 2nd and the Blizz made 9 selections in 8 rounds. The 2024 draft class goes as follows:
