Scott Bateman Middle School Athletes of the Year Awards

Scott Bateman Middle School hosted it’s 2021-2022 year end awards last week with Aubrey Paul-Cote winning Female Athlete of the Year while Sebastian Stevens won Male Athlete of the Year.

 

Both winners competed in a variety of school sports throughout the year.

OCN Blizzard Announce New Head Coach and General Manager

The OCN Blizzard have announced Darren Naylor as the new Head Coach and General Manager of the OCN Blizzard!

 

Darren was on the ice from 86-96 playing for teams like the Delta Flyers and Eugene Snowcats.

 

In 2005 he moved to coach the Hope Icebreakers of the PIJHL, scouting for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL from 2009-2014 and eventually serving different positions in 2018 with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL.

TP Slo Pich All Mens & Womens Fundraisers

Members of The Pas Slo Pich League have formed an All Men's and All Women's team, and are heading to compete in the Slo Pich Nationals in Whitehorse, Yukon in July. Various fundraisers will take place throughout the summer to support their efforts. A quad poker derby will take place June 26th at Pike Lake starting at 1 pm; get your tickets now for the 50/50 draw happening in July from any player through social media, look for the posters on Facebook. A second radio media bingo will take place July 9th at 1 PM, on 102.9 CJAR, with $4000 in cash prizes to be won. Last, but not least, the "2022 Off-road 70 Honda Coleman" will be raffled off on July 22, support your local athletes, and have some fun! 

2022 Halcrow Lake Golf & Country Club Opener

The 2022 Halcrow Lake Golf And Country Club Men's and Women's Club Championship is this Saturday!

 

The championship kicks off with a shotgun start at noon with registration beginning at 10:30am and ending at 11:30am. Registration is also available in advance at the pro shop today and tomorrow.

 

The cost to register is $35 for members and $50 for non members.

 

Registration fees include entry fee, a door prize draw and a dinner after the tournament.

 

Make sure you have your best putt ready as there will be a putting contest as well!

Kelsey Rec Kids Camp Registration Now Open

Registration opens today for the Kelsey Recreation and Wellness Centres Kids Camp for ages 5-12!

 

The first week of camp officially kicks off July 4th and will change themes each week up until the last day on August 26th.

 

To register your child head to the wellness centre or email rec.wellness@townofthepas.ca.

OCN Blizzard Acquire 5 Plays in the MJHL Draft

The 2022 MJHL Draft took place over the weekend The Blizzard grabbed players from three different teams.

 

Landen Sitarz joins the team fom the U16 Rink Hockey Academy.

 

Peyton Allard From the U17 AAA Winnipeg Bruins.

 

and three players from the U17 AAA Winnipeg Wild. Tavon McCorrister, Tyson Wilson and Marlen Edwards.

The Pas Slo-Pitch League Games Today

5 teams are up to bat today in The Pas Slo Pitch League. At 6:30 team 8 faces 11 at Arena 1 and at 8PM team 6 goes up against 13. At the Centennial Arena teams 1 and 5 hit the field at 6:30 followed by 3 and 4 at 8PM. Teams 7 and 12 head to the diamond at 6:30 in the lone game at the Kinsman Field.

OCN Blizzard Make Trades Ahead of the MJHL Draft

The OCN Blizzard have announced the trade of Forward Brett Tataryn of Argyle Manitoba to the Niverville Nighthawks ahead of the scheduled 2022 MJHL Draft.

 

Tataryn put up 9 Goals and 11 Assists over 54 games in his 2021/2022 season with the Blizzard. The trade consisted of a 2022- 3rd Round pick for Niverville for a 2nd & 6th round pick in 2023 & PDF for the Blizzard.

 

The Blizzard also announced they've acquired power forward Ryan Monias from the Winkler Flyers. The Blizzard also receive Flyer’s 1st round pick during the anticipated 2022 MJHL Draft taking place this Saturday June 4th. In exchange the team traded their 2022-1st and 2nd round picks.

 

Ryan, origionally from Thompson Manitoba scored 11 goals and 8 assists in 46 games played with the Flyers in the 2021/2022 regular season.

 

Ryan comes to the Blizzard already having family roots with the team. His father Reynold Monias and uncle Konrad McKay played for the Blizzard during the late 90's.

Zone 11 Track and Field Results

The Zone 11 Track and Field Championship took place over the weekend here in The Pas.

 

Travis Ellenor won first in the Junior Varsity Boys 200m, Long Jump and placed 2nd in JV Boys 400m. MBCI will be sending 12 athletes to  provincials in Winnipeg June 9-11.

 

The team categories Frontier Mosakahiken School from Moose Lake won the A Banner, Flin Flon's Hapnot Collegiate won the AA banner and RD Parker Collegiate won the AAA banner.
