OCN Blizzard on Christmas Break

The OCN Blizzard are now on their Christmas break. The Blizzard finished off 2017 with a 6-0 pounding of the Selkirk Steelers last night at the GLMC. It was a tight match on Friday but the Steelers would take that 4-3 in overtime. OCN’s next game is at home January 5th against Portage.

OCN Blizzard at Home This Weekend

The OCN Blizzard are home for the weekend. The Blizzard face the Selkirk Steelers at the GLMC Saturday night at 7 and again Sunday night at 6. We’ll have a broadcast of Sunday night’s game on 102.9 CJAR. Tickets for both games will be available at the gate.

Norman Wolves and the Yellowhead Chiefs Play Each Other at Roy H Johnston Arena This Weekend

The Norman Wolves and the Yellowhead Chiefs minor hockey teams will face one another in two games this weekend at the Roy H Johnston Arena. The First game will be played on Saturday at 6PM and the other game will be played at noon on Sunday. Admission is 4 dollars and there will also be a 50/50 draw and a progressive loonie stick draw.

Bill McDonald Senior Varsity Basketball Tournament

The Rotary Club of The Pas 6th Annual Bill McDonald Senior Varsity Basketball tournament kicks off tomorrow here in The Pas. There will be a boys and girls tournament with High School teams from Flin Flon, Norway House, The Pas, and many others across Manitoba and the winning team will be awarded with a $1000 scholarship.

 

The Tournament will be held at The Wellness Centre, Margret Barbour Collegiate, UCN, and Scott Bateman Middle School. The Pas teams will being playing their first games tomorrow at MBCI. The boys play at 2PM and the girls will play at 4PM.

OCN Storm Beat The Cross Lake Islanders 7-5

The OCN Storm keep trying to make their way to the top of the MJHL standings. The Storm picked up another couple of points with a 7-5 win on the Cross Lake Islanders last night putting them second in the league, 2 points back of Selkirk. The setback for the Storm is that they don't play again until next Wednesday.

OCN Blizzard 2 for 2 in MJHL Showcase

The OCN Blizzard were 2 for 2 at the MJHL Showcase in Winnipeg, winning both games this week. The Blizzard took a 5-2 win over Winkler last night. They beat Portage 3-1 on Monday. The Blizzard are back home. They welcome Selkirk to the GLMC for games on Saturday and Sunday.

OCN Storm Face Cross lake Islanders Tonight

The OCN Storm are on the road today. They’ll travel to Cross Lake and face the Islanders tonight at 7. The Storm are 3rd in the KJHL, one point behind Peguis and 4 back of Selkirk.

OCN Win Their First Game in The Manitoba Showcase

The OCN Blizzard won their first of 2 games at the Manitoba Showcase in Winnipeg. OCN beat Portage 3-1 last night. The Blizzard face Winkler tonight at 6 and we’ll have that game live here on 102-9 CJAR. The Manitoba Showcase features scouts from the WHL and college leagues scoping future prospects

OCN Blizzard Have an Unlucky Weekend

A win was not in the cards for the OCN Blizzard over weekend. The Blizzard fell short and a lot had to do with penalties on Saturday. OCN lost 4-3 to the Pistons in Steinbach. OCN got dumped 7-2 in Selirk on Friday. The Blizzard had yesterday to regroup and get set to perform for numerous scouts who will be in attendance at the Manitoba Showcase which gets underway today. OCN plays Portage in Winnipeg at 6 o’clock. We’ll carry the game live here on 102-9 CJAR.

OCN Storm Winning Ways Continue

The OCN Storm’s winning ways continued. The Storm beat Arborg 9-3 at the GLMC Saturday night. The Storm haven’t lost a game since November 18th.

OCN Blizzard Faces The Pistons Tonight

The OCN Blizzard is on the road and they will face the Steinbach Pistons tonight at 7:30. We have all the action right here on CJAR with Marty Martinson. There next game will be played on Sunday against the Portage Terriors at 6PM.

OCN Storm Weekend Home Game Action

As the OCN Storm lead the North Division in the Keystone Junior hockey League they will take on the Arborg Ice Dogs tomorrow night at the GLMC. The puck drops at 8PM.

Bill Mcdonald Senior Varsity Basketball Tournament Coming to The Pas

Next Week, The Bill Mcdonald Senior Varsity Basketball Tournament will take place here in The Pas From December 15th to the 16th. Eight boys and eight girls teams from Manitoba and Saskatchewan will be participating.

 

The tournament will be held at The Wellness Centre, Margret Barbour Collegiate, UCN, and Scott Bateman Middle School.

 

The Pas teams will be playing their first games on the 15th at MBCI. The boys will play at 2PM and the girls will play at 4 PM.

The OCN Storm are on home ice tonight. The Storm will welcome the Norway House North Stars to the GLMC. The game starts at 7 and tickets will be available at the gate just prior to game time.

OCN Blizzard Loss to Dauphin in Last Nights Game

The OCN Blizzard have 3 road games this week and the first one didn’t end in their favor. The Blizaard fell 4-2 to the Kings in Dauphin last night. OCN will be in Selkirk on Friday then take on the Pistons in Steinbach on Saturday.

 

OCN Blizzard on The Road to Face The Dauphin Kings

In MJHL action The OCN Blizzard are on the road and they will face the Dauphin Kings tonight at 7:30. Also tonight the Neepawa Natives face the Selkirk Steelers, The Swan Valley Stampders take on the Virdin Oil Capitals, and the Winnipeg Blues play the Winkler Flyers.

OCN Blizzard Weekend Action

It was a back-and forth weekend for the OCN Blizzard at the GLMC. The Blizzard lost 3-2 to Steinbach on Friday after being down 3-0 in the first period. The Blizzard would strike back Saturday with a 5-2 win ove r the Pistons. The Blizzard, now tied with Portage for 3rd in the MJHL, will hit the road for their next game. That’ll be against the Steelers in Selkirk on Friday.

OCN Win Both Games On The Road

The OCN Storm had a great weekend on the road. OCN beat the Lundar Falcons 9-7 on Friday. They destroyed Fisher River 17-2 on Saturday. Next up, Norway House comes to OCN this Thursday.

OCN Blizzard Weekend Action

The OCN Blizzard are hoping for a packed house at the GLMC tonight. The Blizzard face the Steinbach Piston in one of two weekend games. For those that can’t make it, we’ll have the broadcast starting at 6:45 on 102.9 CJAR. The Blizzard are 3 points away from taking first place from Winkler. Steinbach is second, a point up on OCN heading into the weekend.

OCN Storm Smash The Islanders At GLMC

The OCN Storm were controlling winners over Cross Lake at the GLMC last night. The Storm smashed the Islanders 12-2.  OCN’s junior “B” team has a busy weekend. They travel to Lundar to face the Falcons tomorrow. They take on the Hawks in Fisher River on Sunday.
