Blizzard Rookies Back On Ice For Day Two

OCN Blizzard rookie camp continues today. The young hockey players take to the ice for morning practices today before scrimmage games tonight. Team 1 will play team 2 twice today at 4pm and then again at 8pm. There will be one more day of rookie camp tomorrow before main Blizzard camp hits the ice Thursday. Main camp runs throughout the weekend before the Blizzard play their first exhibition game Sept 3rd at home to the Flin Flon Bombers.

Blizzard and Storm Set To Return To Ice

Hockey season is finally here and The OCN Blizzard and OCN Storm will be getting back on the ice soon. Today is the first day of OCN blizzard rookie camp at the GLMC. Rookie camp will continue through to Wednesday followed by Blizzard main camp Thursday to Saturday. OCN Storm camp will be held from September 5-7th.

Young Guns Hockey Camp Set for September

Hockey season is right after the corner and that means it’s time to get in shape. There will be a young guns hockey camp running throughout the month of September and you can sign up now. The Young Guns Conditioning Camp is September 2nd to 26th. It’s for hockey player’s ages Novice, Atom/Peewee and Bantam/Midget. For Novice $65 is the early bird price until Aug 25th and for Atom to Midget it’s $85. There’s limited enrollment and the head instructor is Jomar Cruz with on ice assistant Hayden Yaremko.

Par 3 Tournament a Success

The Halcrow Lake Golf and Country Club held there 6th annual Par 3 golf tournament on Sunday. Unfortunately there were no one winners of the big prizes including $10,000 and $20,000 pay outs or a new quad but 82 golfers got a great fun round in. They raised a lot of money for the club and some of the closest to the pin winners included, Jim Totte, Keith Young, Don Head, Armand Pitre, Brett Janz, Darryl Janz and Bart Constant. Also the winner of the putting contest was Bob Kerslake and the 50/50 hole was Neil Henderson.

Pounders Win At Slo-Pitch Nationals

Congratulations to the Paperworks Pounders after winning the all male national slo pitch championship yesterday. Three teams from The Pas and OCN area took place in the national tournament that was held in Winnipeg this year. Also congratulations to the OCN Hurricane all ladies team on placing third in the all female draw.
