On Friday the team Opened the season in Swan River, playing strong the entire night.

After a scoreless first period for both teams the Blizzard would open fire on Swans net with 13 shots.

Despite being down 12 shots on goal Kayden Sutherland, Ryan Monias and Riley Zimmerman Scored for the Blizzard to end the night 3-1 at home.

The Blizzard really did put on an impressive display of what's to come this season. With Chase Hamm stopping 67/69 shots on goal though both games and the whole team working together to get the puck in the net.

OCN Blizzard Force Top Dogs Into Overtime

It was a lot closer this time around in the battle of Northern Manitoba as the Bombers had to come from behind to beat the OCN Blizzard last night in a shoot out.

Flin Flon scored early on the power play when Jaeden Mercier grabbed a rebound off Chase Hamm's pad and flipped in a back hander to put the Bombers up 1 to 0 just 3:31 in to the game.

Chase Hamm kepth the net locked down most of the game, blocking an impressive 39/41 shots on net.

The Blizzard also seemed to look more confident and you could see that they are starting to implement some Doug Johnson systems.

The Blizzard would get rewarded with the next two goals with 4 year vet Riley Zimmerman tapping a puck through Laser Hume's legs to tie the game early in the second.

Laser Hume was traded by the Nipawin Hawks earlier in the day to give the Bombers a little more experience in goal.

The Blizzard would grab the lead when local product Laz Constant was able to get some room ,  streaked down the ice and fired a nice shot stick side to beat Laser Hume and put his team up 2 to 1 after 2.

The Bombers came out and continued to get lots of shots, eventually resulting in a tie late into the third period

The rest of regulation and 3 on 3 OT solved nothing so we had to go the shoot out where the Bombers outscored the Blizzard 2-0.

The Blizzard begin their regular season Friday against the Swan Valley Stampeders in Swan River.

The OCN Blizzard Earned Their First Win of the Year

During the third period Keilan Holland scored the first goal, Marlen Edwards scored his second and John Kremmer scored the final goal to wrap up the game 7-5 for the Blizzard.

They face The Flin Flon Bombers Tomorrow at 7:30 to wrap up the Battle of the North.

OCN Blizzard Find Their Footing

It was a tough start for the new OCN Blizzard last night as the team hosted the Flin Flon Bombers Last night.

The Flin Flon Bombers came to the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre prepped and having already played four pre season games against other teams while the Blizzard had just wrapped up their main camp on sunday.

This showed during the first period when the Flin Flon Bombers scored a staggering 6 goals in 9 shots during the first period.

After intermission it seems the team found their footing as new goalie Chase Hamm stopped all but one shot on net. Mitch and Michael Hlady scored the first OCN goal of the night followed by

Marlen Edwards.

The third period wrapped up with Miguel Bouvier and John Kremme scoring a goal each for the Blizzard. Final score was 10-4 for the Flin Flon Bombers.
