Cross Lakes very Own Brady Keeper is coming back north of the border! The Vancouver Canucks have signed Keeper in a 2 year, $762,500 AAV deal from the Florida Panthers. Brady played only 2 games with the Panthers during his 3 year career after being signed to an entry level contract in March of 2019.

Slo-pitch action continues today with The Pas Slo-Pitch League at Arena 1 and the centennial arena.

Starting at 6:30 PM the fireballs face the OCN Jacks at arena one then the Old Balls face the Deadly Diamonds at 8pm.

At the Centennial Arena team Bracken faces the Yankdeez at 6:30. Then The Aces go up against Team T at 8pm.

The OCN Summer Games continue today with plenty of more fun events for your kids to take part in!

There will be foot races, a shoe scramble, crawling races, a backwards run and a rock throw at each location.

First races kicks off at 10 AM at The Arbor Site for 0-2 year olds.

Jars soccer feild for 3-4 year olds.

Jars Baseball field for 5-6 year olds.

OID Park for 7-8 year olds.

And the GLMC for 9-10 year olds.

More races will begin at 1 PM for older age groups at the following:

Jars Soccer field for 11-12 year olds.

Jars Baseball Field for 13-14 year olds.

The Pas Slo-Pitch League has announced the full schedule for the 2021 season! Four games are going on today.

At Arena 1 Team T will faces the Flatliners at 6:30 then team Bracken will face The Fireballs at 8 pm.

Over at the Centennial Arena The Old Balls Face the OCN Jacs at 6:30 and Yankdeez face the Deadly Diamonds at 8 PM. Home teams for both arenas will be decided after a coin toss.

A few spots remain for The Winton Pool’s Red Cross lessons!

Lessons will start next Monday July 26th and will be held Monday-Friday for two weeks for all levels.

The Kelsey Recreation and Wellness Centre has announced the weekly themes for the remainder of Camp Keep Your Distance!

Starting week 4 taking place July 26th-30th is sports week.

Week 5 - August 3-6 - Make a Splash

Week 6 - August 9-13 - Fear Factor

Week 7 - August 16-20 - Survivor

Week 8 - August 23-27 - Welcome to the Circus

Each week is $112 for the whole week except for week 5 which costs $89.

The Pas Slo-Pitch League has extended team registration until this Friday July 16th.

There will be a captains meeting at Arena one baseball diamond at 6 PM tomorrow if weather permits, with an alternate location announced if necessary.

Registration and payments will be taken until 8 PM at the meeting. After the meeting a scrimmage game will be held for the first 24 players interested.

Currently the league is short the 10 teams required to keep the cost of registration cost at $350 per team.

Teams who haven’t registered already that are interested in doing so are asked to contact league president Erik Bignell on Facebook or at 620-8152.

The RBC Community Ambassador Program will be making a $1,000 donation to Kelsey Community School through the MJHL.

Every year MJHL teams nominate a player during the regular season that makes a positive contribution to their community.

This year 2020-21 OCN Blizzard captain Ben Hilhorst was nominated for the award after being heavily involved with the community.

Ben was announced as the awards recipient in May, he choose the Kelsey Community School to have the funds donated towards.

Some of Ben’s activities include reading to children during school visits, shoveling walk ways for local seniors, providing assistance during community fundraisers, supporting local businesses and more.

Summer may have already started but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to play ball!

Thanks to loosening Covid-19 restrictions The Pas slow pitch league is able kick things off for their delayed season on or around Monday July 19th!

The cost is $350 per team. Team captains can register by getting in touch with Erik Bignell at (204) 620 8152 to get the registration forms.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday July 14th. There is a minimum of 10 teams required to play, so the more teams that sign up the better for the season!

Registration is underway with Le Pas Des Danse Studio for the week of July 19^th! There are camps available for different age groups throughout the day.

9 am - Noon for 9-11 year olds.

1 pm – 3 pm for 3-5 year olds.

5:30 pm – 6:15 pm for newborn babies to 18 months old.

6:30 pm – 7:15 pm for infants from 18 months to 3 years old.

The camp for 6-8 year olds will take place July 26^th to the 30^th from 9 am to Noon.

Students will engage in a variety of activities from art, acrobatics, improv, contemporary ballet and more.

The cost of the camps varies, starting at $50 for the week for babies up to 3 years, $100 for kids ages 3-5 years and $150 for kids ages 6-11 years old.

The Kelsey Recreation and Wellness Centre has announced they will be reopening the Winton Pool!

The pool doors will open once again starting this Monday July 5^th.

You can book a time for all programs now by calling the wellness at 240-627-1134.

Anyone going to the pool must wear a mask until they are on deck and ready to go into the pool.
