Derek Logan

“I may not be the biggest guy, or the toughest guy,
or the fastest guy, or the smartest guy ... wait,
where was I going with this.?"

Derek is a Manitoban through and through and when he’s not cheering on the big Blue and Gold he
is probably wearing a Jets shirt. Born and raised in Winnipeg he had your pretty typical upbringing.

Soon after leaving high school Derek found himself working in restaurants. He may not look it but
he can cook like the wind blows, and oh my is it tasty. His passion towards cooking could not last
forever though and with that fire slowly fading away he found himself looking for, a new passion.
It was his love of all things music that made him decide radio was the right place.

It was at this time Derek went to the Academy of Broadcasting and was able to take his first step
towards becoming the man he is today. Derek has a love of everything media. He loves listening to
all types of music, from classical to metal and everything in between. He can often be seen jogging
while rocking out to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Guess Who and other classic rock greats.

In his free time Derek loves to play the guitar and says the only thing he misses about Winnipeg are
the ladies he left behind, a Fender and a Jackson. He also has a love of science fiction and all things
alien. The Truth is Out There.

Catch Derek bright and early Saturdays - and weekdays Tuesday through Friday from 2:00-6:00
for the evening drive, and call him with your favourite tunes for the 3 O’clock Request fest.

Mark Andrews

Mark Andrews’ radio career began at CHTM in Thompson, Manitoba in 2007. After two and a half years in the Midday slot, he moved to The Pas in December 2009 and started working as host of YOUR Morning Wake-Up at CJAR.

Mark truly loves The Pas, and says, “It’s the warm-hearted people in the Tri-Communities that make this place Manitoba’s golden little secret. I’ve never found a better place to live and I hope to be able to call The Pas my home for the rest of my days!”

Mark loves animals and you can see him every day, be it spring, summer, fall or the bitter cold of winter, out and about with his beloved pound rescue Mocha. It’s no secret that he’s a coffee guzzlin’ man, but he’s also a big fan of cooking---well sort of. He’s a big fan of letting others cook for him and you’ll often see Mark sitting in ‘his booth’ at Fat Boy’s waiting for the next local to come in so he can say “Hi!” That is when he’s not in his favorite chair in town.

Mark says, “There’s nothing I love more in life, then being in my big red comfy chair from 6-10 in the morning, knowing that I’ve been invited in to the kitchens of the people of this great community, for a coffee.”

With a smile and a wink, he raises his Super Size mug and hollers, “To The Pas! CHEERS!”

Don Barkman

I was born in Gimli in 1963, and grew up and lived in Winnipeg.
I began my broadcast career in The Pas in the summer of 1994
at CJ1240 at the Fischer Ave. location..

Ask myself or Jim Scott about the great 1240 fire. That summer was also memorable because of Pink Floyd's Canada Day show at CanadInns Stadium.
( Wow that was twenty years ago ? ) with the Red River Ex going on around it.

R.I.P. Greg and CanadInns .

I moved to Thompson a month later and worked at our sister station 610 CHTM. I held down evenings, afternoons and middays, occasionally filling in on mornings and Saturdays.

I brush with Greatness: Met Nazareth when they played Thompson Nickel Days. Brought on the Northern Pikes when they played there a few years later.

Moved to The Pas in March 2013 just in time for the switch over to the Mighty 102.9.

Love classic rock. Favs : KISS, RUSH and earlier Tragically Hip. Met Eric Singer at a Wpg. KISS convention just before he re-joined permanently.

I like to fish. If anyone wants to take me out on the boat sometime that would be awesome.
