There will be a special fitness event at Devon park on Canada Day called Wellness Wars Canada Day. Participants will take part in different athletic and fitness events and the top team will win a wellness centre package. Its open to people 16 and up and you are asked to assemble a team of 4. The Registration will be at 1:30PM at the park and the event begins at 2PM

Registrations are now open for The OCN Blizzards Main Camp. The camp is set to run from August 31^st until September 3^rd and its open to players born from 1998 until 2003. The Pas native Connor Dewar is one step closer to becoming an NHL player. The 18 year old Forward and Captain for the WHL's Everett Silvertips was chosen by the Minnesota Wild in the third round of this years NHL draft.

Dewar took to social media to express his gradtitude and said he has been surrounded by great people in his life and can't express how thankful he is.

Dewar was also awarded the Silvertips most dedicated player this past season.

A merchandise bingo was held last weekend at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre in support of the OCN Blizzard. A total of one thousand and twenty eight dollars was raised and they would like to thank all of there sponsors and those that came out. Their next merchandise bingo will be held at the GLMC on July 28^th at 7PM

Kate Spence, a swimmer from The Pas Roadrunners Swim Club is the winner of The Jill Joyal Merit Award. The award recognizes a swimmer that shows a great interest in swimming along with patience, kindness towards others, and a good attitude.

The Pas Roadrunners Swim Club Facebook page acknowledges Spence as a dedicated student that pays attention to technique while still having fun.

The Margret Barbour Collegiate Track and Field team participated in the MHSAA Championships in Winnipeg over the weekend and Wendy Cull from MBCI would like to congratulate all the students for their performance.

A total of 13 student athletes from MBCI took part in the event and Student Seth Salamandyk reached the provincial finals in the Junior Varsity Boy’s Triple Jump finishing in 9^th place.

The other students that took part in the Championships were, Mia Brown, Chase Bertholet, Lucas McDonald, Jane Dunham, Jack Dunham, Liam Froese, Leif Grindey, Daniel McMillian, Chase Muswagon, Blake MacDonald, Hunter Rambow, and Dylan Stark.

This Sunday is the annual spring shoot for The Pas Firearms Association.  Registration for the event begins at 12 PM at the shooting range and the competition begins at 1. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The 2018 Draft for the OCN Blizzard took place on Sunday. The team drafted eight new players from across Manitoba and they auto protected two players from The Pas. Chase Bertholet and Keilan Holland who both play for the Norman Wolves.

The eight players that were drafted are:

Round 1: Forward Trentyn Crane from The Pembina Valley Hawks

Round 2: Forward Owen Weihs from RHA National Bantum Prep

Round 3:  Defenseman Aidan Brook from the Parkland Rangers

Round 4: Defenseman Logan Clarke from the Winnipeg Hawks and Forward Colby Bear from the Interlake Lightening

Round 5: Right Winger Mike Svenson from RHA Nationals Bantam Prep

WHL Hockey player Connor Dewar can now add team captain to his resume. The
Everett Silvertips announced that they have made the 18-year-old native of The
Pas their 16th captain. It was also stated on the Silvertips website that the
team enjoyed the dedication that he had last season. We will have more on this
exciting news as the information becomes available.

Nick Popiel, The Pas Road Runners Head Coach has won Coaching Manitoba’s Coach of The Month award for the month of May. The announcement was made on their Facebook Page Earlier this week and according to Sport Manitoba Coaching Manitobans coach of the month is in partnership with Global news and coaches that are dedicated to the sports that they coach as well as the athletes they work with are eligible to be nominated.

The Winner of the award gets to appear on Global News on the last Monday of each month and Popiel and members of The Pas Roadrunners were interviewed at the Pan Am Pool and the interview was featured on Global.
