Workout Bootcamp ready to launch at the Sweatshop

The Sweatshop will be launching a workout bootcamp starting next Tuesday February 5th with 5 weeks of intensity and exercises to push you and reach your fitness goals.

 

Classes run twice a week with your option of when to attend each session

Wednesdays+Fridays @ 5pm or Tuesdays+Thursdays @ 5pm

 

The cost for the full 5 weeks is $55 to register or for more information contact Jenn Cook at 204-627-9208

MBCI see another great weekend

MBCI's Senior Varsity Basketball teams saw another great weekend. Both the boys and girls teams were in Brandon and the boys continued their dominance with another tournament win. The boys team is  now 15-0. The junior teams were hosting a tournament with both the boys and girls winning all their games.

 

This weekend the junior varsity boys team is heading to Neepawa for another tournament. 

Jaime Corbett named Interim Head Coach for OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard continue to make changes to the team. Head Coach Matt Summers has been relieved of his duties for the Blizzard and have hired Jaime Corbett for the remainder of the season. 

 

Corbett spent time as assistant coach for the Swan Valley Stampeders but left early on to take a head coaching position with the Interlake Lighting AAA Midget Hockey League. 

 

The OCN Blizzard are on the road for this weekend against the Selkirk Steelers. The Blizzard will be at home next weekend for games against Portage and Virden. 

OCN Blizzard start busy week

The OCN Blizzard kick off their week with one game at the GLMC against the Swan Valley Stampeders. The Blizzard are still looking for their first win over Swan Valley.

 

Following Tuesdays game - OCN will hit the road for a quick stop in Dauphin against the Kings Wednesday night. The Blizzard will get one day off on Thursday before taking a weekend trip to Selkirk against the Steelers on Friday and Saturday. 

 

With the Blizzard sitting on 34 points and just over a month remaining in the regular season - OCN is looking to grab as many wins as possible and catch up and snag a playoff spot

Initiation Huskies launch cowbell fundraiser to help local boy

Initiation Huskies have launched a fundraiser to help the family of Ryder Armstrong as the family continues to receive help. With a gofundme posting over $20,000 the Huskies are selling cowbells for $10 each with all proceeds going to help the family.

 

Convenor Lindsay Tritthart will be selling cowbells tonight from 5-7:45 at the rink. You can also order your cowbell by sending an email to Lindsay at Lindsay2@myucn.ca

Pas Huskies see great weekend

The Pas Huskies kept busy over the weekend with various tournaments across the North. The Huskies Bantam Team won the “B Side” of a tournament out in Flin Flon. The Atom 2nd Team captured bronze in Swan River and the Peewee team one took home bronze from their trip to Thompson.

 

Jody Ehman, Ethan Conaty and Reiko Cook all managed to score their first goals of their campaign over the weekend.

OCN Blizzard call up 4 players from OCN Storm

Prior to their game Friday night at the GLMC, the OCN Blizzard have called up a few players from the OCN Storm in the KJHL.

 

Forward CJ Thompson. Thompson leads the KJHL in points with 20 goals, 34 assists totalling 54 points in 19 games.

Forward Troy Head. Head is the Storm's leading goal scorer with 23 goals in 17 games.

Forward Sheldon Chartier - Chartier connects with the Storms special teams with 4 powerplay goals and 1 shorthanded with 24 points in 15 games.

Defense Chavez Constant - Throughout 18 games, Constant has 11 assists with 2 goals - both which have come on the powerplay.

 

Puckdrop at the GLMC against Steinbach is at 7pm.

Men Bonspiel's coming to Snow Lake Curling Club and Swan River

The Snow Lake Curling Club is hosting a Men's Bonspiel next month with a 1st place prize of $1000. The Bonspiel will run throughout the weekend of February 15th-17th. The entry fee is $180 per team, to register your team call Kelly at 204-358-0233, the deadline to register is February 12th.

The Swan River Curling Club's Mens Bonspiel will be on March 22nd and will run throughout the weekend. The entry fee is $160 per team, for more information on the event or to register your team call the curling club at 204-734-3055.

 

 

Barraso, Lagamiere help lead Blizzard to 1-1- weekend.

The OCN Blizzard went 1-1 on their past road trip. Friday night saw the Blizzard just fall short of the comeback against the Virden Oil Capitals 8-4. OCN bounced back against Neepawa the following night with a 4-0 win to keep the playoff hopes alive.

 

Riley Barraso scored 3 goals in the 2 games and Dorian Lagamiere stopped all 37 shots against Neepawa to earn a shutout.

 

With a good preformance from all players this past weekend, the Blizzard will be taking their confidence with them as the Steinbach Pistons are at the GLMC Friday night.

The Pas Huskies host Bantam Tournament

The Pas Huskies are hosting a Bantam Tournament at the Roy H. Johnson Arena starting tomorrow afternoon.

 

Participating teams are from The Pas, Thompson, Flin Flon and Hudson Bay. The first game of the tournament will kick off Friday at 5pm between The Pas and Flin Flon at the Roy H Johnston Arena.

OCN Blizzard road trip

The OCN Blizzard hit the road Friday morning for a quick 2 game road trip. Friday night the Blizzard will take on the Virden Oil Capitals. Virden is 3-0 over the Blizzard as they sit 5th in the standings with 47 points.

 

The Blizzard will then wrap up the trip on Saturday against Neepawa, the Blizzard are 2-1 over Neepawa.

 

Both games will be broadcasted on 102.9 CJAR

Flin Flon Bombers acquire Weyburn Red Wings captain

With the SJHL now midway through the season the Flin Flon Bombers are doing what they can to stay on top of their game. The Bombers traded forward Dawson McKenzie and future considerations for Weyburn Red Wings captain, Cade Kowalski. Kowalski has found great success in Weyburn with 39 points in 33 games.

 

The 19 year old forward is currently committed to Ferris State University in Michigan starting in the 2019-2020 season.

OCN Blizzard Game Day

With OCN still trying to fight for a playoff position, riding their 2 game winning streak they'll be put to another test tonight at the GLMC against the Dauphin Kings.

 

The Kings are 2-0 against the Blizzard so far this season sitting 7th in the standings with 40 points. OCN currently has a far climb ahead of them with 32 points and 10th place. Tonight's game and the ones this weekend will be a huge week for the Blizzard, 6 much needed points are on the line to keep the climb alive.

 

Action at the GLMC gets underway at 7pm

23rd Annual Novice A&W Funky Threads Tournament Begins Today

The 23rd Annual Novice A&W Funky Threads Tournament begins today and will continue tomorrow. Games will be played at the Roy H Johnston Arena and the GLMC and there are teams from The Pas, Flin Flon, Thompson and many other communities.

 

Bantam Tournament at the Roy H Johnston Arena

Next week there will be bantam hockey tournament at the Roy H Johnston Arena. The tournament will be held from January 11th until the 13th and their will be teams from The Pas, Flin Flon, Hudson Bay, and Thompson.

 

The first game of the tournament will take place at 5 in the afternoon on the 11th and The Pas will play Flin Flon.

OCN Blizzard Action Tonight

The OCN Blizzard need to pick up the winning pace in this final half of the MJHL season if they want to make the playoffs. The Blizzard sit second last in the league as they head into their first game back after a Christmas break. OCN will face the Selkirk Steelers at the GLMC tonight. Puck drops at 7 and tickets are available at the gate.

Flin Flon Bombers Road Trip Continues

The Flin Flon Bombers road trip continues as they face the Terriers in Yorkton tonight. The Bombers hammered LaRonge 9-1 in the first game of this trip that will see them play 5 games before heading home next weekend.
