Winnipeg Goldeyes Lose Home Openner

The Winnipeg Goldeyes lost their home opener last night to the Sioux Falls canaries 10-5. The four game series continues tonight with all the action starting at 7PM. The Goldeyes are currently second place in the North Division.

Winnipeg Goldeyes Home Openner

The Winnipeg Goldeyes play their home opener tonight at Shaw Park. They will be taking on the Sioux City Canaries for their first of four game series. There will be a pre game championship celebration and a post game fireworks display. All the action starts at 7PM.

Goldeyes Beat Stockade 7-4

The Winnipeg Goldeyes picked up their fourth win of the season yesterday, beating the Salina Stockade 7-4 at the Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kansas.

 

Right hander Mikey O'Brien fanned five over six innings while giving up only two runs on four hits to earn his second win of the season. Amarillo, Texas native TJ Looney pitched six innings for the Stockade, giving up four earned runs on four hits while fanning two.

 

The 'W' ties O'Brien with St Paul's Mark Hamburger and Ryan Fritze of the Gary SouthShore RailCats for the league lead in wins.

 

Josh Romanski hit two homeruns to drive in four to help lift the Goldeyes to victory, while Mason Katz and David Bergin each had one RBI. Romanski's two homers tied him for the league-lead in homers with three.

 

Winnipeg still sit in third in the American Association North Division, four games back of the St Paul Saints and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

 

The Goldeyes will be looking to improve on their 4-2 record this afternoon as they take on the Stockade in the finale of their three game series.

OCN Blizzard Hockey School and Prep Camp

The OCN Blizzard Summer Hockey School is set to run from August 27th to the 30th.

 

Participants will get two hours of ice time a day and half an hour of office training. Group one ages 7-10 will be on the ice at 9 AM and have an off ice session at 10AM.

The Prep camp for kids 14 and up runs in the evenings from 7-8:15 PM

 

 

The cost of registration for the hockey school is 150 dollars and 125 dollars for the prep camp. You can register online at ocnblizzard.com.

The Pas Minor Soccer and Baseball

After a few delays, The Pas Kelsey Recreation and Wellness Centre has giving start dates for the minor soccer and baseball.

 

The minor soccer starts on Tuesday May 23rd and the minor baseball stars on May 24th. Players and parents will be contacted and they will receive their schedules.

 

The season for both sports have been delayed due to poor field conditions.

 

Manitoba Aboriginal Sports and Recreation Council

The Manitoba Aboriginal Sport and Recreation Council is looking for alternative athletes for team Manitoba to take part in the 2017 North American Indigenous Games. 

 

Some of the events include 3D archery, Baseball, soccer and Box lacrosse. You can become a alternative athlete by calling 204-925-5622 or by the end of today

2017 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship

Team Manitoba has won gold in the 2017 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in both the Male and female division. The tournament was held in Cowichan, British Columbia from April 30th until May 6th. Rachel O'Toole The Pas and Brayden Sinclair from Peguis Band both took part in the tournament and won gold.

TVF Volleyball Tournament

The fifth annual TVF Volleyball tournament was held last weekend and was a big success with over 15 registered teams. The teams all competed for competitive cash prizes.

 

Head coordinator Ben Guay announced that this year will be the last year that he will be organizing the event, but we would like to thank of the sponsors’ and people that have supported the tournament.

Western Canada Cup Update May 4th

The Brooks Bandits beat the Portage Terriers 5-0 last night and the Terriers now lead the series 3-1.

 

The Penticton Vees will take Portage tonight and the final game will be played on Sunday.
