Norman Wild Win 2 of 3

The Norman Wild were on the road this weekend and picked up 2 wins in 3 games. On Friday, the Wild dropped a tough 2-1 game to the Winnipeg Avros. Saturday, it was the Wild defeating the Eastman Selects 1-0, Kerigan Dowhy picked up the shutout with 40 saves. Then Sunday, the Wild got their revenge on the Avros, beating them 4-2.

OCN Blizzard Fall to 6-9-1

The OCN Blizzard lost their loan game of the weekend. The Selkirk Steelers came to town and stole 2 points from the Blizzard in a 3-0 game. Devon Fordyce started in goal for the Blizzard and picked up the loss. The Blizzard are now off until Friday when Steinbach comes to OCN. Across the rest of the MJHL no games tonight.
 

OCN Storm Win at Home

The OCN Storm were perfect at home on the weekend. The St. Malo Warriors were here for back to back games and got beat by the Storm on Saturday 5-3. The Storm won again on Sunday, 7-6 in a shoot out.

OCN Blizzard

It’s a busy night in hockey.

 

The MJHL has 4 games on the schedule. The OCN Blizzard are home to the Selkirk Steelers starting at 7. If you can’t make the game at the GLMC, we’ll have a live broadcast with Jaret Schnieder calling the plays. The pre-game show on 102.9 CJAR starts at 6:45.

Elsewhere in the league, the Neeapwa Natives are in Swan River to take on the Stampeders, the Dauphin Kings are up against the Pistons in Steinbach (PRON: Stine back) and Waywayseecappo entertains Portage. Last night, Virden beat Winnipeg 4-3 in overtime.

OCN Storm

The KJHL OCN Storm play a home double-header this weekend.

 

The junior “B” team is home against the St. Malo Warriors tomorrow night at 8 with a rematch at the Gordon Lathlin Arena Sunday afternoon at 1.

MJHL - quiet night

There were no games played in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League  Monday and just one tonight, with the Neepawa Natives travelling to Dauphin to take on the Kings.

 

The OCN Blizzard face the Neepawa Natives in Neepawa tomorrow night.

MBCI Volleyball in Thompson

Six girls teams and three boys teams from Northern Manitoba including the MBCI Spartans went to Thompson for a junior varsity volleyball tournament over the weekend. Thompson's RD Parker Trojans beat the Spartans girls in a tie-breaker match to finish first. MBCI took second. On the boys side, MBCI also finished second place after losing to Wabowden.

MJHL

It’s a light night in the MJHL with just one game on the schedule.

 

The Neepawa Natives, winless in its last four outings, are hoping for a win on home ice as they welcome the Dauphin Kings.   In league action last night, Selkirk beat Virden 4-1, the Swan Valley Stampeders shadowed Waywayseecappo 5-4 and Portage trumped Winkler 4-3 in a shootout.

MBCI Senior Varsity Volleyball

The MBCI senior varsity volleyball teams were involved in a tournament in Swan River over the Thanksgiving weekend. The senior girls went all the way, beating Melita in the finals to take the "B" side championship.

The Senior boys did not make it out of a seven team round-robin after losing out to Melita.

Blizzard Split Games in Winkler

The OCN Blizzard have split games on the road this weekend with the Winkler Flyers. After a shootout goal in the 6th round by Rhett Law the Blizzard took a 1-0 win on Friday. Saturday night it was the Flyers turn as they stole a 2-1 game from the Blizzard. The Blizzard were led in net by goaltender Devin Fordyce as he made 76 saves on 78 shots this weekend. Next Blizzard game doesn’t come until Saturday as the Winkler Flyers will be in The Pas for a 7PM game.

Storm Sweep Games At Home To Open Season

The OCN Storm won their first two games of the year at home over the weekend. The Storm played Saturday and Sunday against the Lundar Falcons. Saturday OCN pounded Lundar 6-2. The Storm laid another licking down on Sunday, beating the Falcons 7-1.

Huskies - The Pas Sr.

The Pas Sr. Huskies are joining 5 other teams in the Fishing Lake Hockey League for the 2014 - 15 season.   Many local players have played in this league for Hudson Bay in past years, and now will the opportunity to play at home.

 

Team tryouts are this Tuesday, October 14 and a general meeting will take place on October 15.   If you have any questions you can call 204 - 627 - 0321 or 204 - 623 - 0007.

OCN Storm

The OCN Storm kick off the season on home ice.


The OCN Storm Junior B are warmed up from exhibition play and ready to hit the ice for their third season playing in the KJHL.  Regular season opens up at home with a game
Saturday evening at 8, and another Sunday afternoon at 1:30.  They’ll be facing off against the Lundar
Falcons for both games. 

OCN Blizzard

The OCN have lost a second 1-goal game on home ice.

 

A one goal loss for the Blizzard was repeated tonight at the hand of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. The Wolverines came into OCN scoring one early goal before taking a 2-1 lead 6 minutes into the opening frame. Nothing changed throughout the game after that, other than shots on goal and scoring chances. Final score 2-1 Wayway.

The lone OCN goal was scored by Brady Keeper(3) his second goal in as many games. In the Blizzard net once again was Devin Fordyce who played lights out for for the final 2 and a half periods. 

 

The Blizzard now hit the road for a couple games Friday and Saturday.  Both will be broadcast live on 102.9 CJAR and on thepasonline.com

Blizzard at Home to Swan Valley Tonight

The OCN Blizzard are back on home ice tonight when they meet the Swan Valley Stampeders. The Blizzard bring their 4-4 record to the GLMC and have lost their only appearance against the Stampeders this year. Puck drop tonight is at 7PM and the game will not be broadcasted on 102.9 CJAR.

OCN Blizzard Showcase Results

The OCN Blizzard had a successful weekend in Winnipeg for the annual MJHL Showcase.

 

The Blizzard went 1 and 1 dropping their first game on Friday to the Winkler Flyers 4-2. The Blizzard followed it up with a win over the Virden Oil Capitals on Saturday by the same score of 4-2. For OCN they now sit tied for 5th place with a 4 and 4 record for 8 points.

 

The Blizzard will be at home tomorrow night when Swan Valley comes to town. Puck drop is at 7 o’clock at the GLMC. 

MJHL Showcase

Players are in the spotlight this weekend as the Manitoba Junior Hockey League Showcase is on in Winnipeg.

 

The OCN Blizzard face the Winkler Flyers at the MTS Iceplex today. Scouts will be on hand checking future prospects. You can check out the game too as 102.9 CJAR will have a full broadcast starting with the pre-game this afternoon at 12:45. Jaret Schneider has the call as play gets underway at 1 o’clock.

OCN Blizzard at Showcase

The OCN Blizzard head to Winnipeg for the 2014 Old Dutch-MJHL Showcase.

 

The showcase begins today with the OCN Blizzard playing their first of two games tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. against Winkler and the other against Virden at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

 

Each team plays two games, and both games played by the OCN Blizzard can be heard live on 102.9 CJAR or at thepasonline.com

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard played an exciting game against the Kings in Dauphin last night.

 

OCN picked up the win but needed overtime to finish the game 2-1. Elsewhere, it also went to overtime in Swan River where the Stampeders downed the visiting Virden Oil Capitols 7-6. The Winnipeg Blues crushed the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 7-1 and Portage pounder Winkler 8-1.

 

There are no games tonight in the MJHL.
