The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is bringing the priorities of its 63 Member First Nations to the First Nations, First Ministers’ Meeting in Ottawa that started yesterday and will continue today.
Grand Chief Kyra Wilson is leading the delegation, alongside six First Nation chiefs.
The Assembly is pressing federal and provincial leaders on Treaty and inherent rights, self-determination, resource wealth sharing and economic sovereignty.
Grand Chief Wilson says First Nations expect action, not just promises, and must be treated as equal partners.
She says no decisions affecting First Nations should be made without their free, prior and informed consent.
