A 24-year-old man from The Pas is facing a 1176 dollar speeding ticket after being caught travelling nearly twice the speed limit on Highway 39.
Snow Lake RCMP say officers spotted the vehicle just after 6 pm Friday evening, west of Ponton.
Police say the driver was travelling 186 kilometres an hour in a posted 100-kilometre-an-hour zone.
He was issued a speeding ticket and a Serious Offence Notice, or S-O-N, under the Highway Traffic Act.
A SON can trigger an automatic driver’s licence review by Manitoba Public Insurance.
Police are reminding motorists to obey speed limits, slow down, and drive safely. Speeding can dramatically increase stopping distances and leave drivers with less time to react to hazards.
