The Pas Town Council is considering whether Deputy Mayor Atkinson should receive additional compensation while serving as Acting Mayor.

According to a report presented to council, Atkinson is taking on the mayor’s full responsibilities for approximately eight to nine weeks, including meetings, community events, document signing and other mayoral duties.

Council is considering three options: no additional compensation, paying the difference between the mayor and deputy mayor’s salaries, or approving another stipend.

The current monthly difference is 503 dollars and 50 cents. Administration has recommended council discuss the matter and provide direction.
