Health officials are raising awareness about HIV as Manitoba sees a sharp increase in new cases.
The province declared a public health emergency in May, after 328 new HIV cases were reported in 2025, compared with 90 in 2019.
Krista Tooley with the Play it Safer Network says HIV rates are highest in Northern Health and Prairie Mountain Health.

They’re encouraging people to get tested and know their status, noting some people with HIV have no symptoms and may not know they’re infected.
