The Pas RCMP teamed up with local conservation officers over the weekend to patrol Rocky Lake and promote water safety.
Police say most boaters were following the rules, carrying the required safety equipment and having valid fishing and boating licences.
Officers did find one boat without enough life jackets for everyone on board. The occupants were educated about the risks and potential fines, and were provided with a life jacket and safety kit.
RCMP are reminding boaters to complete a safety check before leaving shore, saying proper preparation could make the difference between life and death in an emergency.
