International Overdose Awareness Day is coming up on August 31, and an event will be held tomorrow to provide information and resources about overdose awareness and prevention.

Krista Tooley with the Play It Safer Network shares why the event is being held a bit early.

Tooley says there will be educational resources, testing and immunizations available. Naloxone training and free naloxone kits will also be provided.

The event is not just for those using street drugs. Opiates come in many forms, with some people taking prescription medications. Having the proper training and a naloxone kit on hand can mean the difference between life and death.

Snacks will also be available for those in attendance.
