Voters in The Pas-Kameesak will head to the polls on July 21st for a provincial by-election to fill the vacant seat in the Manitoba Legislature.
The by-election comes following the passing of longtime MLA Amanda Lathlin earlier this year.
Lathlin represented the region since 2015 and made history as the first First Nations woman elected to Manitoba's legislature.
The Pas-Kameesak riding includes communities such as The Pas, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Grand Rapids, Peguis First Nation and several northern Manitoba communities.
More than 9,800 voters were registered in the riding during the last provincial election.
Jennifer Flett has already been announced as the Manitoba NDP candidate, with additional candidates expected as the campaign continues toward the July 21st vote.
