Today is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ people, also known as Red Dress Day. Multiple events will be taking place in the community to honour and remember those who have been lost.
At The Pas Friendship Centre, red dress pin-making will be held from 1 to 4 PM. Then, starting at 5 PM, there will be a memorial walk. Those wishing to participate can meet behind the University College of the North campus. Following the walk, a candlelight vigil will be held at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre at 7 PM. Food and beverages will be served at the vigil, but attendees are asked to bring their own chairs.
Come show your support, honour and remember those who have been lost, and stand together as a community to build a better future.
