Overdose Awareness

The Play it Safer Network was in The Pas last week, providing information and awareness about drug-related overdoses.

There is a lot of stigma around overdose and street drugs, but it can often be typical household opioids that lead to overdose as well.

Keeping these things out of reach of children is very important; Krista Tooley with the Play It Safer Network added that individuals going through various treatments may be taking opioids, and with older patients, remembering when to take them can lead to fatal overdoses.

Tooley also explained that lots of times people may not think substances they use could be mixed with a deadly opioid such as Fentanyl, when the reality is that these substances can be combined with anything.

The Play it Safer Network handed out Naloxone kits, which are used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
