The Town of the Pas is hoping to change the speed limit to 30 km near school zones before the start of the next school year.
At last week's council meeting, the engineering department presented information following a review of provincial regulations on school zone speeds.
The Next step will be creating a bylaw and applying to the province for that change.
Mayor Murphy said he supported the resolution but wasn't sure a reduced speed on Gordon Avenue was necessary; it was suggested that the application be adjusted to support this.
The by-law would only be in effect during school months and could still be amended after it's passed.
