Nelson House RCMP responded to assist a First Nations Safety Officer at a check stop on Highway 620 on January 6th.

 

When officers arrived the FNSO had already stopped a vehicle with five passengers, two adults and three minors, and had seized open liquor from the vehicle.

 

The Driver a 16-year-old from Winnipeg was searched and found to have illicit drugs, cash, and cell phones, while undergoing arrest he admitted to having a loaded handgun.

 

A search of the vehicle also led to the discovery of cocaine, power tools, and a large amount of cash.

 

The remaining occupants were arrested on scene but later released without charge.

 

The driver was charged with numerous drug and weapon offences including possession for the purpose of trafficking.

 

Investigations are ongoing.
