The MMF in The Pas has been hard at work with the opening of a new daycare.

 

Across Manitoba, the MMF signed a 10-year agreement with the provincial government to receive 7.9 million dollars per year, with a focus on building ECE facilities provincially.

 

The site is a 40-seat facility that will staff 10 to 14 people and is for children from 0 to school age. The facility cost 3.7 million dollars to build.

 

The Center called Li Pchi Taanfaan meaning “Little Child” is now in the process of staffing, training and setting up the facility as the grand opening approaches.

 

The name is a mixture of both French and Cree.

 

There is also a seniors unit, and a plan for housing units as well, all being situated at the end of Bell Avenue in The Pas.

 

The grand opening will be on February 11th, 2025.
