The Royal Canadian Legion has kicked off its annual poppy campaign and poppies are on sale at various outlets in the community.
The campaign runs from today until November 10th, leading up to Remembrance Day and air cadets in the community will be canvassing, looking for support.
During this period, the iconic red poppy flower is prominently featured as a symbol of remembrance. Donations are collected in exchange for poppies, and the funds raised help support veterans and their families, as well as various community programs.
The annual campaign helps support local veterans and their family members and all money collected locally stays in the local community.
The campaign not only serves as a way to remember those who have served but also educates the public about the importance of peace and the impact of war.
It encourages Canadians to reflect on the sacrifices made for their freedom.
