Town of The Pas mayor Andre Murphy was in Winnipeg last week talking with Health Minister Asagwara to discuss health care concerns of the community.
Murphy went on to say that the provincial government is committed to making the clinic happen, but there are necessary steps that need to be taken.
The recruitment of staff and the upgrading of infrastructure go hand-in-hand as the hospital in The Pas is already the oldest one in the province and staff want better facilities.
The new health clinic in The Pas was already in the front running 6 years ago.
The Northern Transportation symposium also took place last week in Thompson and the Town of The Pas staff took part.
Links to everything that was shared at the symposium can be found on the Thompson Chamber of Commerce website.
Murphy said it was a good way to build community relationships and that The Town of The Pas would try and encourage the local chamber to host next year’s event.
