Daytime programming at the Oscars Place Homeless Shelter returned about 4 months ago.

 

The program relies heavily on Donations and they have received quite a bit from local partners like the Friendship Center, but there is always a need for more, Janet Lowther with the Shelter 

said one of the things they run out of all the time is socks, and they can make a world of difference to those in need.

 

CJAR’s Socks from Santa Program will return shortly, but donations of new socks for the homeless can always be dropped off at CJAR offices and the Oscars Place Homeless Shelter.

 

For those seeking emergency overnight, the shelter opens at 8 pm and those that use it must be inside before 11 pm.

 

The Shelter is also preparing for the coming winter months, and keeping people in need clothed and sheltered is always challenging.

 

There is always a need for warm-weather clothing items for adults and toiletries for those who use the facility.

 

With about 60 people during the day and about 25 using the overnight periods, the program continues to grow to accommodate the community.
