RCMP Rescue

Last Tuesday night,  The Pas RCMP received an emergency call about a boat collision on Frog Creek south of Cormorant.

Two officers, a guide with extensive knowledge of the area, and two Emergency Medical Services Paramedics travelled almost 20 kilometres in near total darkness, until they came upon the collision.

They located a 30-foot aluminum commercial fishing boat laden with ice and fish, and a six-person crew.     It appears the vessel hit something under water and veered, launching the boat about 40 feet out of the water and onto land.

A 34-year-old woman had serious injuries, and a 42-year-old man was injured as well.

They were transported back to the Cormorant boat launch, where they were then transferred to an Emergency Medical Services ambulance and taken to hospital in The Pas.

They were treated for their injuries and released.

The rescue team then returned to the scene to pick up the uninjured crew members.
