April 19 is National Canadian Film Day and premiering at the Royal Canadian Legion is Steven Bignell’s and Stuart Matheson’s Film The Tomahawk.

 

Written and directed by Bignell and produced by Matheson, The Film was shot in The Pas and OCN last year and follows an experienced Cree Scout during the Second World War who finds a lost German boy, they put their differences aside and try to make their way home.

 

The film was developed through NSI New Northern Voices – a training program delivered by the National Screen Institute to build workforce capacity in northern Manitoba.

 

 

Bignell was mentored by Oscar-nominated director Sturla Gunnarsson, who will attend the event, tickets are free and will have a Q&A followed by the short film
