Now that it’s summer, the RCMP and the Life Saving Society wants to remind Manitobans to be safe around the water, especially when you are boating.
It is highly recommended that young children and non swimmers be supervised near the water and to never drink alcohol before taking part in water activities or before driving a boat.
Learn how to swim in order to be safe in the water and to always swim with a buddy.
When you are out in a watercraft be aware of the wind and your surroundings and always wear a personal floatation device.
It’s also important that you have a proper fitting life jacket as this is the first piece of safety equipment when unexpected incidents occur on the water.
