OCN Member Appointed As a Judge in Thompson

The Manitoba government has appointed two judges in Thompson Provincial Court.

Vincent Sinclair, a member of Opaskwayak Cree Nation, has been a criminal law lawyer in the north since 2010, and has worked in The Pas, Moose Lake, OCN, Easterville, Pukatawagan, and Grand Rapids.

The province says Sinclair was picked from a list of candidates to fill a new position in the court, while Briscoe was appointed to fill a vacancy after a previous judge transferred to The Pas.

The other appointed judge, Curtis Briscoe had been practicing criminal law since 2013, and has worked in Thompson, Norway House, Shamattawa, and numerous court settings.
