University College of the North Transitions to Face to Face Instruction for Winter Term

(The Pas & Thompson, MB) – University College of the North will make a full return to campuses and learning facilities for the January winter term.

All UCN students, faculty, and staff will return to UCN facilities for classes and work beginning Tuesday, January 4, 2022. UCN will continue to keep students, faculty, and staff safe, healthy, and engaged in education by following all public health orders and managing the risks associated with COVID-19 throughout the Winter Term.

“Our goal with all pandemic planning, including a vaccine requirement on November 1, is to create the safest environment possible for students and staff,” said Doug Lauvstad, UCN President and Vice-Chancellor. “A return to face-to-face instruction is one of the benefits to this hard work.”

UCN’s November 1, 2021 vaccination requirement policy will remain in place for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors to UCN’s campuses and learning locations. Mask use will remain for those at a UCN facility, although physical distancing restrictions will be lifted.

Classroom checklists, the use of self-screening tools, and other protocols as detailed in Sharing Space Safely, UCN’s COVID-19 plan, will continue. A contingency plan will be in place to return to remote learning, if required. All up to date UCN pandemic planning information can be found at ucncovid.ca.

University College of the North provides learning opportunities to northern communities while respecting diverse Indigenous and northern values.
