Opaskwayak Cree Nation is planning to search for unmarked graves at the sites of the Mckay and Guy Hill Residential Schools.

The ground penetrating radar needed for the search is being provided by SNC Lavalin and it’s expected to commence soon.

The site of the McKay residential school that burned down in 1933 is located 10 kilometres North of OCN, and the Guy Hill Residential School site is located near Clearwater Lake in the vicinity of The Pas airport.

A local Elder hopes the search will bring out the truth so the community can move forward and heal.
