Investigation into a Police Pursuit Involving Manitoba First Nations Police Service

The Independent Investigation Unit is investigating circumstances around a serious injury sustained by a young male during a police pursuit.

 

According to the Manitoba First Nations Police, on July 18th officers on patrol in Opaskwayak Cree Nation observed a vehicle travelling southbound at an excessive speed.

 

Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over but they lost sight of it as it travelled to fast.

 

They later located the vehicle that hit a house in the community and the driver sustained a broken arm and was taken to the hospital in The Pas. 

 

A broken arm is considered a serious injury that requires an investigation from the IIU.

 

The investigation is ongoing as of news time.
