The Pas Mayor Extremely Disappointed The Restrictions are Not Being Lifted in our Area

Last week The Manitoba Government announced that certain COVID 19 restrictions in parts of the province would be lifted but Northern Manitoba is to remain in code red due to the large number of COVID 19 cases in some communities.

The Pas mayor Herb Jaques spoke to Arctic Radio and said he was extremely disappointed with the decision adding that the community has worked really hard to keep the case count low. He added that businesses and the mental health in the community has continued to suffer because of the restrictions and wants the government to reconsider.

The Pas and District Chamber of Commerce has also expressed their disappointment in the Provincial Governments decision as well. A press release from the chamber pointed out that Opaskwayak Cree Nation has done a good job controlling case numbers and their stores and businesses are still open.
