Norway House COVID Vaccines

Norway House Cree Nation gave an update on COVID-19 vaccination in the community.

In a statement issued through MKO, Norway House Chief Larson Anderson explains the first 240 doses of COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the community on Thursday, which was designated for the Personal Care Home Elders and staff, as well as Elders ages 70 and older.

The first people to receive the vaccine in the community were Leslie and Veronica Apetagon.

Anderson says the community imposed a strict lockdown early in the pandemic, and that members fought hard to keep the virus out while trying to maintain a sense of balance.

He goes on state that the vaccine is like a light at the end of the tunnel, and urges everyone to continue to follow the COVID fundamentals.
