The Pas & District Chamber of Commerce Committee AnnouncementThe President of The Pas & District Chamber of Commerce, Jill Wilkinson has announceda number of key committee appointments Wilkinson observes that, “These key appointments will allow The Chamber to move forwardwith its current plans. There are initiatives for each committee and timelines.Membership (ChairpersonTown of The Pas Councillor Andre Murphy)The objective of the Membership Committee is to communicate with existing members on a regular basis to garner opinions and concerns that members may wish to express.

 

Governance and Board Development (ChairpersonFormer Town of The Pas Mayor Alan McLauchlan)The objective of the Governance and Board Development committee is to ensure Constitution and by-laws are up to date and relevant. In addition, the committee will look to opportunities to engage the directors of the board including, but not limited totraining and development opportunities. Mr. McLauchlan will also chair the Tourism and Local Promotion committee with valuable assistance from RM of Kelsey Councillor,Jim Berscheid and the Paskwayak Business Development Corporations Economic Development Officer, Darryl Bauer.The Tourism and Local Promotion committee will ensure the Chamber is actively participating in tourism/local promotions and working in partnership with community organizations with the same mandate.Economic Development and Stability (Chairperson Linda Markus, Jim Berscheid, Darryl Bauer)This critically important committee will also work towards promoting, and where required, facilitating required economic initiatives within the region. The committee will form partnerships with organizationsand businesses within the Tri-Community region, showcasing programsand initiatives with supports that highlight, economic development and stability within the region.

 

Government Relations (Chairperson Jim Berscheid, Linda Markus, Alan McLauchlan)Working with all levels of government, be they local, regional, provincial or federal is key. Having familiarity with each othersagendas is key. The experience these committee membershave will ensure all governments can work off of the same page.

 

Events (Chairperson Jill Wilkinson, Celeste Atchison, Bobbi Lajambe Pich)Having popular key community events is important for a region that wants to provide a great place to live, work and play. Events like the Annual Trade Show and the celebration of our Citizen/Business of the Year are two excellent examples of this.

 

The Pas & District Chamber of Commerce events have proven to be the most successful ways the Chamber communicates to its membership,and the people in the region itservesCommunications (Chairperson Jill Wilkinson, Celeste Atchison, Darryl Bauer)All efforts could not be possible without an effectiveCommunications committee. It provides the direction on the development of key initiatives aimedto help reinforce the Chamber's reputation as a leading voice of business in the Tri-Community area.Wilkinson notes that, “We are very appreciative of our Board. We have room for more Board members, if one is interested. If a person is not ready for thecommitment involved with being a board member, I might suggest joining one of the committees. Our Committee chairs may be looking for assistants or a particular skill set that might be needed for a short-term solution.” All Chamber and Community membersare invited to attend Chamber Board meetings, which are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:15 pm.
