Our MP Niki Ashton spoke in the House of Commons last week to demand action from the Federal Government on York factories recent COVID 19 outbreak.
Ashton stated that one of the biggest challenges faced by First Nations during this pandemic is that they have been unable to self isolate because they live in crowded homes.
When asked what actions are government is taking to ensure that people can safely remain outside their community for their health, The Minister of indigenous services Marc Miller responded by saying a rapid response team arrived in the community and they are ensuring that community members that are affected are isolating and they are cautiously optimistic about the outcome and safety of the community.
