The results of Make Shift Happens Oscars Place Homeless Shelter Survey have been finalized.
People were asked whether or not the Oscars Place Homeless Shelter Should Remain open or not and a majority of those surveyed where in favour of its closure.
49.7 Percent want it to close
37.2 Percent want it to remain open
and 13.1 percent are unsure
It is believed by some that the shelter is not operating as intended as it has drawn visitors from outside the community and the town lacks programs and services that will deal with the issues faced by homeless people.
Most people surveyed believe that addictions are the main reason for homelessness in the community.
A solutions lab to discuss these findings will be held via zoom on October 6th at 7PM
