25 Million Dollar Fund Being Provided to Independent News and Community Radio Broadcasters During the Pandemic

In response to a report conducted by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters that independent radio and television stations could close due to financial difficulties brought on by the COVID 19 pandemic.

Arctic Radio reached out to the CRTC and received a statement from Steven Guilbeault GILL-BO the minister of Canadian heritage on the subject.

He says Canadian broadcasters have been working around the clock to deliver news and information and they recognize the essential role they play to keep communities informed which is why they have acted to provide independent news and community radio broadcasters a 25 million dollar emergency fund to assist them with COVID 19 related financial troubles.

He added that they believe that a stronger more competitive broadcasting system is essential to protect communities and promote economic growth.
