A couple of incidents kept our local fire crews busy yesterday. A scary situation unfolded when a fire started in the forest near the ski chalet at Clearwater Lake.

Residents in the Snake Island area of Clearwater were put on standby to evacuate their homes. Fire bombers were called in to assist with that blaze. To hamper the situation, a grass fire was called in from the Carrot Valley area later in the day.

Both incidents have since been resolved.

At around 12:50 this morning another call came in of two buildings on fire that were set to be torn down. One is still standing and the other was a complete loss.
