A Port in the Storm

A Port in the Storm is continuing to provide accommodations to northern and rural families receiving medical care in Winnipeg during the pandemic.

Stacey Grocholski, the executive director of the organization, says the Port has seen a few clients cancel accommodations due to elective surgeries being cancelled.

However, Grochelski adds that they expect to see more people use their services as the province re-opens elective procedures this week.

She explains that they’ve also seen some clients and their families stay in the suites longer than they expected to due to being discharged from hospitals early and not being able to return home because they need to be close to the hospital while they recover.

Because of this, A Port in the Storm is looking for donations to help provide families with the basic supplies they need so that they can weather through the pandemic while being away from home and loved ones.
