Manitoba Hydro Complying with the latest recommendations at the Keeyask Construction Sit

With the provincial health order now in effect until April 14th, Manitoba Hydro says they are following the measures set out by health officials as construction continues at the Keeyask Site amidst COVID-19.

A company spokesperson explained in an email that the company completed the reduction and rotation of staff a couple of weeks ago, with roughly seven hundred workers who volunteered to remain on-site.

The spokesperson adds there are guidelines for employees entering or leaving Keeyask, as workers who need to leave the site for any reason will have their situation reviewed on a case-by-case basis, while those arriving at the site without prior authorization will not be allowed to enter.

Material and supply deliveries will continue at the site to make sure Hydro employees can continue to work and have what they need, and the spokesperson says strict measures are being enforced to ensure minimal contact between drivers and on-site staff.

The company explains that since March 21st, all individuals referred off-site are being tested for COVID-19 prior to leaving Keeyask.

Hydro goes on to say that as of yesterday, there have been no confirmed or presumptive cases of COVID-19.
