14 students in UCN’s nursing programs are assisting health care staff at hospitals and testing sites as COVID-19 continues to spread.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health at the institution, Vicki Zeran, explains that the volunteers comprised of fourth-year Bachelor of Nursing program students, as well as some Diploma in Practical Nursing program students.

Zeran says that the students are helping screen people who are entering the hospitals and the testing sites, and that some of those hours will count towards their practicum.

She goes on to say that a majority of the students are feeling good and believe this is a good learning experience for them, and that pandemic response is a part of the program curriculum.
