Our MP Niki Ashton recently sent a letter to Liberal Minister Patty Hajdu about testing for COVID 19 in our region.

According to the letter, the ability to test, quarantine, and isolate people in indigenous and other northern communities will be critical to prevent the spread of the virus, as the housing crisis and a lack of healthcare infrastructure will worsen the transmission of the disease.

Ashton states that laboratory capacity in Winnipeg is overwhelmed and we need to be ready to offer testing as the virus circulates.

Minister Hajdu announced on Facebook that they are funding around 100 research teams to develop effective methods to diagnose, treat, and manage those that have COVID 19.
