Kelsey School Division Schools Closing Starting Next Week

Vaughn Wadelius the chair of the Kelsey School Division spoke to Arctic Radio News  with a message for students and parents in response to the announcement that schools in Manitoba will be closed in response to the COVID 19 epidemic.

He wants to assure parents that the schools are safe, and that is why schools will be open next week before closing for a three week period starting March 23rd which includes the spring break. All teachers and support staff will be expected to be at work on these days to prepare lessons and daycares within the schools will remain open.

For this week there will be no noon hour or after school activities and the schools will operate on an 8:30 to 4:00 PM schedule with no one admitted outside these hours.

Water Fountains will be closed so students will need water bottles which can be refilled at the water dispensers, and extra cleaning is happening at the schools and on school buses.
