Aurora House is having an International Woman’s Day celebration this Sunday at the Wescana Basement.

According to Aurora Houses Executive Director Donna Pritchard, the origins of International Woman’s Day go as far back as the early 1900’s when the woman’s labour movement was very active in creating a 40 hour work week and holiday pay and ultimately created a better life for workers, and she believes that its important to acknowledge this history.

The celebration will run from 1-3 in the afternoon and have a variety of speakers, along with refreshments, a raffle and a photo booth.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted.
