Treaty Commissioner Talks about Treaty Education

Treaty Commissioner Loretta Ross of the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba spoke to Arctic Radio to talk about the importance of educating Canadians about treaties made with indigenous communities and how they are working towards ensuring that schools start to teach students about the treaties.

The commission has developed curriculum support materials to help teachers to educate their students about treaties. Ross tells us why these support materials are important.

Manitoba Schools are not yet required to teach their students about treaties and this is something that Ross hopes will change in the future.
