Our MP Niki Ashton outlines the importance of respect and reconciliation with indigenous peoples in her latest MP report emphasizing that the colonial relationship that existed with indigenous peoples has existed for too long.

Her report also pointed out that we must respect the Wet’ Suwet’en especially when it comes to building pipelines through traditional territory adding that what is happening on Wet’suwet’en lands has significant importance in our region as well.

With climate change and potential environmental risk to our region it is critical that we take a stand to ensure indigenous and northern communities are not ignored.
