During question period last week our MP Niki Ashton brought up the issues with Canada’s railways and how they have put people’s safety at risk. She said the derailment in Guernsey, Saskatchewan from last week came a year after a derailment of a CP train in British Columbia that claimed lives.

When she asked what the Government will do to ensure that people are safe around railways this is what the Minister of Transport Marc Garneau responded by saying he put in place a ministerial order to reduce the speed of trains carrying dangerous goods for 30 days as they examine why these derailments are happening.
