World Cancer Day Focused on Cervical Cancer

Yesterday was World Cancer Day a global initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control, which aims to eliminate millions of preventable deaths yearly by raising awareness about the disease.

This year, Cancer Care Manitoba highlighted cervical cancer, which is the second most common type of cancer in the world, and provided information on how it is completely preventable.

The HPV virus is responsible for cervical cancer and it can be prevented with a vaccine at a young age,

If you are not vaccinated it’s important to have a PAP test every three years to screen for the disease and PAP tests are being offered at The Pas Primary Health Care Centre.
